Sleep Physiology Staff

Mrs Karen Schofield joined the NHS team in 2003 after working as a regional manager for a stationary company. She was a senior sleep physiologist and team manager of the 16 technicians in the NHS department until December 2019. Karen is a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT). Her examination results were stunning, achieving 86% overall (428/500 marks), and being rated as "above expected competency" in all four parts of a very difficult four hour examination paper. She has huge experience in the monitoring of patients with sleep disordered breathing and full polysomnography for other complex sleep disorders, as well as the treatment of patients with CPAP for obstructive sleep apnoea, and Non Invasive Ventilation (NIV) for hypoventilation syndrome. In 2013 she passed the examination set by the Edinburgh Sleep Medicine Course.

Karen now works as a Key Account Manager for the South East of England for ResMed UK, but continues in her role as a member of the private practice team.

Please note that the practice routinely uses ResMed equipment for treatment of patients with CPAP and NIV.

Karen also administers the private practice.

Outside work, Karen enjoys keeping fit, and is married.  Her husband is an IT consultant and they live with their two daughters south of the Ashdown Forest.
